Clayton Glass will be temporarily ceasing operations by Friday the 27th March.
Despite what we feel is an ongoing lack of clarity in instruction from the government, it is with great regret that we have chosen to close our business for the safety of our employees and for the protection of our wider society in general.
As you will have seen yourselves, the picture is changing literally by the hour. Our intention is to do what we can for committed deliveries this week, but to have ceased operations entirely by Friday 27th March – the end of this week.
At this point, our aim is essentially to hibernate until such point as the pandemic recedes sufficiently, and government advice changes. At this point, that timescale is unknown.
Looking to the security of the business long-term, we are confident we can protect the majority of our employees under the Furloughed workers scheme, and are being well supported by our bank in terms of other ongoing financials.
Over this period, it’s important we, as an industry, remain in touch. Many of our customers are of course friends, as well as business associates. We as Directors, and together the wider sales team, will certainly aim to retain a level of radio contact. As much as anything, to help each other socially and personally in these extreme times.
We’ll step up our direct social media communication activities and we will post weekly updates for both staff and customers on our website, www.claytonglass.co.uk.
We will be back as soon as we can, but in the meantime, we wish everyone the very best of luck. Follow the advice, stay indoors, stay safe and most of all, keep the sense of humour that this industry is renowned for.
With very best wishes to you all.
Ryan, Jason, Steve and all the team at Clayton Glass.
