BIG NEWS: Clayton Glass can announce that as of 31st October 2019, we have acquired the services, business and manufacturing capabilities of Nottinghamshire-based glass manufacturer, Global Glass, from Aperture Trading Limited.

In what is exciting industry news, Clayton Glass are delighted to announce the completion of the purchase of Global Glass, along with two of their manufacturing facilities. The first of these is Global Glass’ glass-making headquarters located in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, responsible for the production of Global’s high-quality insulating glass unit products. The second, is a factory situated in Blackburn, specialising in the production of Global Glass’ market-leading conservatory roof glass brand – Celsius Performance Glass.

The Clayton difference is now more pronounced than ever, and no matter how large we grow, we will always provide the care and attention that has allowed us to reach this point.

Jason McCabe, Commercial Director at Clayton Glass

The acquisition of Global Glass will allow Clayton Glass to significantly increase its sales levels, manufacturing capacities and geographical reach. We believe that this elevates Clayton Glass to the next level in terms of our scale as a glass manufacturer. One way that this is accentuated, is through our new ability to manufacture products closer to our customers, shortening lead times and improving our overall service for our customers in the south.

On the roof side, where some of the geography is more challenging, we may use our now wider manufacturing base to move sales closer to their delivery point and so also improving service and response times. However, this will be by exception and prior agreement. We’ll also be able to offer the Celsius brand alongside SMARTGLASS and so broadening the Clayton Glass product portfolio.

At Global Glass we have been making glass units for a long time, and we are enthusiastic about working with a company that really shares our passion for creating quality products, and providing good service.

The next step is now to utilise this newfound manufacturing firepower to the limits of it’s potential, in order to create an enlarged group that takes best practice from its constituent parts, is 100% customer focused, and is able to effectively deliver quality IGU and class-leading glass roof products, on a nationwide scale.

Clayton Glass’ Managing Director, Ryan Green, had the following to say on his company’s acquisition of Global Glass: “This is a significant moment in our history. The purchase of Global Glass represents the biggest step forward we have ever taken, and potentially, we believe, will take us to the next level in terms of our sales levels and in our ability to provide good service. We are delighted.” These sentiments were echoed by the Managing Director of Global Glass, Derren Gittins: “We are very excited to be working with Clayton Glass, at Global we have been making glass units for a long time, and we are enthusiastic about working with a company that really shares our passion for creating quality products and providing good service.” Says Derren.

In terms of Clayton Glass’, and Global Glass’, existing customers, the changes to the service will be minimal, if noticeable at all. In time, we at Clayton believe the purchase of Global Glass will lead to an increased ability to provide good service, due to increased manufacturing capabilities. Commercial Director Jason McCabe expanded on this point: “Clayton Glass will always remain customer focused. We would not be going ahead with a big project like this if we believed it would have a negative impact on the quality of the service we are able to provide. Our decisions are made based on this.” Says Jason. “The Clayton difference is now more pronounced than ever, and no matter how large we grow, we will always provide the care and attention that has allowed us to reach this point.”
